DEHRADUN: Four people were killed and two others were critically injured after a speeding Mercedes hit them near Sai Baba Temple on Rajpur Road in Dehradun on Wednesday night.
Police said the car was a silver Mercedes with a Chandigarh registration number. The driver fled the scene after the accident, and authorities are currently searching for him based on eyewitness accounts.
A senior official told TOI, "Two victims have been identified as Mansha Ram (30) and Ranjit (35), both labourers from Ayodhya, while the identities of the others are still being verified. "
The injured were rushed to a local hospital and are currently stable, receiving treatment, according to police officials.
Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh told ANI, "The incident took place around 8 PM on Old Mussoorie Road. A speeding vehicle, suspected to be a Mercedes, hit several people, resulting in four fatalities. The victims were laborers, and a nearby scooty was also struck, injuring two people in their legs."
He added, "We have identified 11-12 vehicles linked to the case and are actively working to locate the driver."

During an investigation, overnight search and checking operation, the accident-causing vehicle has been recovered from an empty plot in Sahastradhara area.
